Hancock first saw action with the Third Fleet in assaults on Formosa, the Philippines, Okinawa, and Japan. In 1945 the provider participated in assaults on Indo-China, Okinawa, and Japan it self. Damaged in an aircraft explosion in January 1945 and once again by kamikaze hit in April, Hancock came back become part of Magic Carpet operations. She was withdrawn from solution 1n 1947, and after modernization and additional solution, was scrapped in 1976. Hancock had been granted the Navy item Commendation and received four battle celebrities for solution in World War II
