Sturmgeschutz III was initially developed as an attack device, but as war progressed it became much more of a defensive one. It evolved into an assault gun and tank destroyer in one. Its primary role would be to supplying anti-tank support toward products in its section of procedure. Ausf A was accompanied by improved Ausf B, C, D and E, all armed with brief 75mm StuK 37 L/24 weapon. All variations showcased number of improvements specific to vehicles which used them in production. Last Ausf E have been stated in March of 1942. Complete of 822 Ausf the, B, C, D and Es finished up being made by Alkett and their formal designation have been Gepanzerter Selbstfahrlafette fur Sturmgeschutz 7.5cm Kanone Ausf A-E / Sd.Kfz.142. Early Stugs remained in active solution until mid 1943.
