Description

The military of this National Liberation Front (NLF) was composed both by regular products from the North Vietnam army as well as by irregulars. The word “vietcong” have been used as a generic term for NLF soldiers, in common iconography it represents the irregular guerrillas. The vietcong were armed with Soviet-produced weapons just like the ubiquitous AK-47 Kalašnikov attack rifle, or the semi-automatic SKS carbine. In January 1968, they participated in the massive Tet Offensive through the night related to Vietnamese New 12 months.
