The VW Typ 82 Kubelwagen won immediate acclaim due to its excellent all-terrain performance, despite its not enough natural energy and rear-wheel drive. The first design dates back to December 1939: it was at first provided a lukewarm reception, being criticised because of its rear-mounted air-cooled motor and never enough four-wheel drive. But after effective studies in Poland, the doubts was indeed soon dispelled as well as its performance ended up being considered corresponding to that of any 4-wheel drive off-road car.
