The Sikorsky UH-60 black colored colored Hawk is a "twin-turbine" motor, single rotor, semimonocoque fuselage, rotary wing helicopter. The "Ebony Hawk" originated to meet up with a US Army dependence on a UH-1 Iroquois replacement in 1972. Three prototypes had been constructed, the initial (YUH-60) traveling in October 1974, and examined against a rival (YUH-61) Boeing-Vertol design. The Black Hawk had been selected for manufacturing along with UH-60A entered solution with all the current United States Army in 1979.
