Flashy Design Fits Rossi's Style.
The unstoppable Valentino Rossi took a great 9 victories from 16 events in 2003, clinching the title of 2003 MotoGP World Champion. Understood for his flamboyant shows on and off the track, he gained additional attention at Valencia, the final battle of this 2003 period, as he arrived on the scene on a flashy RC211V decorated in a 1970's motif. The design ended up being the champion of a competition held by a motorcycle magazine, which had invited its visitors to develop a paint scheme for Rossi's bike. The Valencia bike also featured a triple-exit exhaust design with silencers eliminated, which Honda had used from mid-season. Rossi displayed perfect riding in Valencia, taking pole place and holding the lead for the whole last half of battle. Valencia was to be Rossi's last trip on the Honda RC211V, with him moving to Yamaha for the 2004 period.
