Protecting the Humanitarian Assistance Mission
In 1997, the Japanese Ground self defense purposes Force (JGSDF) began development of a new high-mobility light armored transportation automobile with all the flexibility to face new missions in a changing world. First implemented in 2002, the JGSDF Light Armored car has a capability of 4, is capable of top speeds of 100km/h, and is light sufficient to be carried by helicopter or transportation aircraft. The gun mount on the top can be fitted with a 5.56mm MINIMI device gun or Light Anti-Tank Directed Missile. Tamiya's model depicts a vehicle implemented to Iraq included in Japan's Humanitarian Assistance Mission.
