Throughout the 1983 World Grand Prix season, Honda took the championship with the NS500 however it was clear that the energy from the 2-stroke V3 engine will be inadequate for the following season. This led Honda to generate the NSR500, that has been driven by a far more effective V4 motor. Additionally featured a distinctive aluminum frame to house the motor and a radical design where the expansion chambers while the fuel tank had been placed above and below the engine respectively.
