In line with the Toyota Celica carry Back 2000GT, the Celica LB Turbo Gr.5 was made to adhere to the Group 5 racing category rules. A 2,090cc 560hp engine powered the lightweight machine plus it defeated Porsche's 935 Turbos to seize an extraordinary victory at Round 4 Belgium through the 1977 German DRM season. Tamiya's R/C model for the Toyota Celica LB Turbo Gr.5 faithfully reproduces the car's long-nose, short-deck type with polycarbonate, although the back wing, back wing plates, and headlight parts are separately molded for enhanced realism.
