In regards to the Ferrari F50
Throughout the Geneva, Switzerland engine Show in March 1995, Ferrari revealed their brand new F50. Filled with Ferrari's latest automotive technology, gleaned from their current Formula-One race expertises, the F50 had been designed to be a "street-legal rushing maching" in truest sense of the term. This Ferrari's extremely rigid center monocoque section had been fabricated from hi-tech carbon fibre composites. The engine/gearbox device is firmly bolted to this monocoque and works as a load-carrying element, just as on their F-1 racing machines. The typically aspirated 4.7 liter V-12 cylinder motor utilizes five valves per cylinder and yields an amazing 520 horsepower at 8,500rpm. The 6-speed synchromesh gearbox transmits this tremendous energy smoothly and efficiently on rear tires. The F50's dual wishbone suspension system is linked to the electronically managed shock absorbers via pushrods, to provide maximum road holding performance. The Pininfarina designed human anatomy shell had been purposely sculptured for exceptional aerodynamics, yet retains Ferrari's conventional automotive grace. The chassis underside is completely flat, with upsweep during the buttocks that will act as a diffuser. Using a removable roof, produced from composite material, the vehicle could be converted into a "Barchetta" (open-top) or "Berlinetta" (coupe). Ferrari's top models have all been destined to be real automotive legends therefore the F50 is likely to be no exception.
