• Towards Opel Astra V8 Coupe Opel Team Phoenix
  The DTM (German Touring Car Championships) thrilled European motor sports fans with an abundance of fender-to-fender action unfurled by three major vehicle manufacturers: Mercedes-Benz, Opel, and Audi. The Opel device that raced into the highly popular 2001 DTM season was the Astra V8 Coupe. Featuring its over-sized front side bumper, over fender, and rear wing, the machine's outside design maintained the exact same design whilst the production version. However, the machine's guts, a robust front-installed 462hp outputting 4-liter V8 motor with rear-wheel drive and 6-speed transmission, were made solely for racing. Although Opel couldn't make any noteworthy competition results during the first 50 % of the 2001 race period, they steadily began making gains within the latter half. Opel's ace motorist, Manuel Reuter, drove behind the wheel for Opel Team Phoenix and took 4th spot completes into the 8th and 10th races for the 2001 season, a testament to his amazing driving ability as well as the winning potential of Opel Team Phoenix.
