Hitting "the Soft Underbelly"
Ahead of the massive intrusion at Normandy, the Allies first set foot on European soil in their intrusion of Italy, famously known by Winston Churchill as section of Europe's "the soft underbelly." Sherman tanks within movie theater of operations often had their standard overall olive drab paint scheme overlaid with sand to create a two-tone camouflage pattern considerably better on Mediterranean environment. This beautifully finished display model features a tank belonging to C business of 756th Battalion combat in the Italian front in February of 1944.
