A bit of Naval History The British Battleship Prince of Wales ended up being the 2nd ship of King George V class. After her completion in March 1941, she was mixed up in historic search for the German battleship Bismarck. In October she was deployed to South-East Asia to fortify the important Uk post of Singapore. But the woman short profession of a mere 9 months came to a dramatic end whenever intercepted by Japanese bombers in that which was to be referred to as "Battle of Malaya". Tamiya is proud to add the Prince of Wales as she endured in this historic naval battle to our good quality Water Line Series. Kit additionally features Japanese planes Type 96 "Nell" and Type 1 "Betty" assault bombers for a complete set to accurately replicate battle scene.

Battle of Malaya On December 8, following the outbreak associated with Pacific War, the Prince of Wales left Singapore after receiving cleverness that Japanese troops had started to secure in Malaya. The Uk Eastern Fleet under Admiral Philips, including the Prince of Wales, meant to meet up with the enemy on Kuantan and attack a Japanese convoy. But the cleverness ended up being wrong and Kuantan had been "as peaceful as a rainy Sunday afternoon". On her way back to Singapore in the morning of December 10, the Prince of Wales ended up being spotted by a Japanese scout airplane. She had been right after attacked and defectively damaged by Japanese Type 96 "Nell" and Type 1 "Betty" assault bombers. With her speed paid down, she arrived under waves of aircraft assaults, until she exploded and sunk stern first.
