About Sd.kfz. 232
Manufacturing on the 8-wheeled, all-wheel drive Sd.kfz. 232 armoured car began in 1937. Showing excellent flexibility with 3 forward and 3 reverse gears, the Sd.kfz. 232 had a topspeed of 100km/h. Featuring fairly thin defensive armor with 14.5mm armor on front side, 8mm regarding sides and 5mm at the top, the 232 had a 20mm KWK-30 main weapon and MG-34 coaxial device weapon fitted to the rotating turret. A distinctive attribute of this Sd.kfz. 232 was the large FuG-11 radio antenna mounted over the human anatomy featuring a 50km coverage range. With commander and gunner within the turret plus one motorist in the front chair plus one within the rear, the 232 could accommodate up to 4 workers. The 232 served on both European and Africa fronts.
