So that you can counter the increasing risk of the German anti-tank forces, the Russian Army created the KV-1B, a greater form of their KV-1 heavy tank, in 1940. It featured additional armor plates bolted to the turret and hull, causing increased armor depth of 120mm on the turret front and as 110mm regarding the turret sides and hull front. It featured more solid security, but as well this reinforcement increased the tank's weight and so paid down its flexibility. The bolt-on armor had been later on changed to a welded application for greater effectiveness. . The Tamiya 1/35 scale model is a faithful reproduction model kit that has been originally introduced in 1988.
