After WWI, Germany forced ahead with the development of battle tanks under a veil of secrecy. The Panzerkampfwagen II utilized the Panzerkampfwagen I's hull and came armed with a 2cm main gun. Mass manufacturing started in 1937 as well as other improvements including a brand new suspension was made. Around 1088 Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf.A-C tanks were manufactured up until April 1940. The Panzerkampfwagen II led the surprise assault on Poland and smashed their means throughout Europe. These people were later changed by better frontline tanks but were successfully used in reconnaissance missions before the end of the war.
