On May 26, 1942, Field Marshal Rommel's Africa Corps launched an assault against the Uk defensive line western of Tobruk which stretched from Gazala to Bir Hacheim. As they higher level, they encountered an Uk product designed with the latest M3 Grant tanks which threatened to halt the offensive. The Africa Corps ended up being saved as soon as the 88mm weapons of this Luftwaffe's anti-aircraft units swung into action. Their accurate long-range fire forced the British tanks to retreat, allowing the Africa Corps to keep their advance and eventually capture Tobruk on June 21st.
