Tamiya is delighted to announce the addition of a new at the mercy of the 1/48 scale Aircraft Series – the Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien, which was the only Pacific War fighter on the Japanese roster with a liquid-cooled engine. The timing is specially auspicious, as Kawasaki Heavy Industries is celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2010 and exhibited a restored Ki-61-II Hien in Japan. The Ki-61-Id variant depicted by the Tamiya kit had been probably the most prolifically produced Hien, and there's lots for modelers to check ahead as it accurately renders the graceful, large-wingspan form with aplomb, also shooting the Ha-40 with supercharger.
